Summer Vacation #1: Creation Museum

     Two weeks ago we went on vacation to the Creation Museum in Petersburg, Kentucky; and then we traveled to Illinois to see family.  We spent two days at the museum.  It was fascinating to go through the museum, go to the planetarium, walk in their botanical gardens, see animals in the petting zoo, and take pictures!
This is the first of a couple posts on our vacation, so look out there are going to be lots of pictures! :)

     We unexpectedly ran into some friends from church at the museum.  It was so fun to meet friends when you're both miles away from where you live!  (Picture taken with the Flat Ken board.)

     The Creation Museum was founded by Ken Ham.  The museum shows science from a Biblical worldview and shows the flaws of evolution.  The museum walks you through the 7 C's of Creation.  (Below is a sign explaining the 7 C's in God's Eternal Plan)  

Creation, how God created a perfect world in 7 days according to the Bible in the book of Genesis

Corruption, when Adam disobeyed God and caused sin and death to enter the world

Catastrophe, when man became so sinful that God sent a worldwide flood to destroy all men except for Noah and his family whom God commanded to built an Ark that protected them from the flood

Confusion, when Noah's descendants decided to build the Tower of Babel, and God gave them different languages and made them spread over the earth

Christ, when God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, down to earth to become a man and live a perfect life

Cross, when Jesus died on a cross for the sin of the whole world

Dinosaurs that could move

     Evolutionary scientists and creation scientists both look at dinosaurs (and other things in nature) and come to two completely different views on how they came about because evolutionists base their thinking on evolutionary theories but creationists base their thinking on the God's Word.

     When Adam and Eve disobeyed God, sin, death, and all the bad things in life entered the world.  Adam and Eve were turned out of the Garden of Eden and had to grow their own food.

God did have a solution to sin.  He had Adam sacrifice an animal so that they could have clothing to cover themselves, and the Bible says that, "without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins." (Hebrews 9:22)

But now we are saved from our sins through Jesus Christ's death on the cross and the shedding of His  blood for us.

Right now Ken Ham and his ministry Answers in Genesis have begun construction on a life size model of Noah's Ark to be completed in 2016.  It is located about 45 minutes away from the museum.

 Ellen was excited to go on a camel ride.  She saw it available on the website before we went and knew she wanted to do it.  The camel she rode was named CJ.
