For the Beauty of the Earth

There are so many things God has given to us that we can be thankful for. This song names just a few, but there are many more.

For the beauty of the earth,
For the glory of the skies,
For the love which from our birth
Over and around us lies:
Lord of all, to Thee we raise
This our hymn of grateful praise.

For the wonder of each hour
Of the day and of the night,
Hill and vale, and tree and flow'r,
Sun and moon, and stars of light:
Lord of all, to Thee we raise
This our grateful hymn of praise.

For the joy of human love,
Brother, sister, parent, child,
Friends on earth and friends above,
For all gentle thoughts and mild:
Lord of all, to Thee we raise
This our grateful hymn of praise.

For Thy self, best Gift Divine!
To our race so freely giv'n;
For that great, great love of Thine,
Peace on earth, and joy in heav'n:
Lord of all, to Thee we raise
This our grateful hymn of praise.

WORDS:
Folliott S. Pierpoint, 1823-1889
Music: Conrad Kocher, 1786-1872; adpt. William Henry Monk, 1823-1889
